Lose weight without exercise! Where do I sign up?

Weight loss tips for the lazy

Losing weight without exercise? Where do I sign up? Everyone want's a quick fix and an easy way to get in shape. The modern-day person has a tight schedule packed with work responsibility, tending to their children/spouses, and trying to maintain a social life to an extent. This busy schedule makes it very difficult to find time for hitting the gym and crushing your weight-loss goals.

While we have written many blogs about how the best weight-loss combo is strength-training, cardio, a well-balanced diet, and drinking lots of water, we know that it is often easier said than done. This is why we have compiled a few weight-loss tips and tricks you can do anywhere and continuously. Remember that little progress is still progress and it doesn't matter how small you start, what matters is that you keep on doing what you are doing until it eventually becomes part of your lifestyle.

So here are a few things that will help you lose weight without exercise or dieting:

Drink up, sunshine!

Drink a tall glass of water, first thing in the morning. Here is a scary fact - When you are dehydrated as soon as you wake up, your body may mistake the feeling of being thirsty for being hungry. This can lead you to overeat when you enjoy your breakfast. It is also a way for your body to get your metabolism going. So when you open your eyes, make it a habit to drink a glass of water. Studies have shown us that drinking up to two glasses of water before meals can help us to lose weight more effectively.

The most important meal of the day

Don't, we repeat, DO NOT skip breakfast. Did you know that skipping breakfast can lead to excess belly fat? Read all about it in this blog. When you skip breakfast, it means that your body has gone without food for more than 9 hours. This causes your body to go into "survival" mode where your body is programmed to store the energy we didn't use as fat. Skipping breakfast also makes your metabolism "lazy" and slows it down. So don't ever skip that breakfast. Even if you just eat one egg on whole-wheat toast.

A lunch-date with yourself

Since many of us are working from home, it is very important to remember to stick to our normal routines as much as we can. It surely isn't helpful that our fridges and pantries are only a few steps away. When we are working from home, we tend to mindlessly wander into the kitchen for a quick snack. This is typically out of the ordinary from what our normal daily routines would be so that results in us taking in more calories than we burn on a normal day. The solution is simple - Book in your lunchtime as you would book a meeting. Scheduling your lunch hour and sticking to it will allow you to stop binge eating anything you can find and can even psychologically help you with cravings. It is also important to prepare your lunch ahead of time which brings us to our next point.

Meal-prepping is your friend

Meal-prepping is a strategy that has proven to help you lose weight. When we dedicate our weekends to cooking food for the week, it prevents the undisciplined action of not knowing what to eat for lunch, being extremely hungry, and not feeling up to cooking which then leads to either take-aways or eating unhealthy snacks foods in the house. Meal-prepping allows us to plan and eat meals that we don't need to cook. This will also help us to control cravings or allow our minds to daydream about what we might like to have today and force us to stick to the meals we prepared for ourselves. New to meal-prepping? Read all about it in this blog.

Dinner before 7 pm

Another great way to ensure that you optimally lose weight is to avoid eating too late. When we go to sleep our body's functions tend to slow down including our metabolisms. Since the metabolism is slower when you sleep it can affect the way your body absorbs and digests the food and as a result, can cause your body to store all the extra calories as fat. If for some reason you simply can't eat before 7 pm, then we suggest a super low-calorie dinner. Something like tuna salad or chicken breast and veggies will do the trick

Enjoy some green tea before bed

It has been proven that sufficient sleep plays a key role in weight-loss and many people believe that a nice cup of tea will help them sleep better. Tea also has catechins which is a natural antioxidant that aids in weight loss. And if you are planning on having a cup of tea, you might as well enjoy a cup of green tea. Green tea is one of the most effective teas in weight loss

The best way to lose weight will always be regular exercise and a balanced diet. But these are some small adjustments you can make to ensure that you lose weight more effectively.
